PM wants you to chant Jai Shri Ram and die of hunger: Rahul Gandhi

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over unemployment in the country and said he wants the nation to chant “Jai Shri Ram and die of hunger”.

He made the remarks as his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resumed from Sarangpur, Madhya Pradesh today.

The Congress MP was welcomed with slogans of “Modi, Modi” and “Jai Shree Ram” by BJP workers.

BJP workers also offered potatoes to the Congress leader, and asked him to give gold in return.

While welcoming the slogans raised by the BJP workers, Rahul Gandhi criticised the prime Minister against unemployment, saying that young jobless individuals “keep watching reels (on social media) all day long”.

“The Prime Minister wants you to look at your phones all day, chant Jai Shri Ram and then die of hunger,” he added.

On the BJP-led Central government’s Agniveer scheme, the Congress MP said that “earlier, the armed forces used to give couple of guarantees to the youth – first, the youth would be given pension and second, they would get respect if they lose their lives”.

“Now, the Agniveer Scheme has been implemented. Under this, four people would be inducted. Out of these four, three would be relieved. These three people would be the SC, ST and the OBC,” he added.

5 Friends Vomit Blood After Eating ‘Mouth Freshener’ At Gurugram Cafe

Five people started throwing up blood and reported a burning sensation in their mouths after eating mouth freshener after their meal at a cafe in Gurugram on March 2.

Ankit Kumar was at the Laforestta Cafe in Gurugram’s Sector 90 with his wife and his friends. In a video recording inside the restaurant by Mr Kumar, his five friends, including his wife, are seen screaming and crying in pain and discomfort. One of the men then vomits on the restaurant floor while a woman puts ice in her mouth, repeatedly saying, “It’s burning.”

Mr Kumar then says, “We don’t know what they have mixed (in the mouth freshener). Everyone here is vomiting. They have cuts on their tongues. Their mouths are burning. Don’t know what type of acid they have given us.” He then asks people in the cafe to call the police.

In his complaint to the police, Mr Kumar said, “I showed the packet of the mouth freshener to a doctor, who said it was dry ice. According to the doctor, it is an acid which can lead to death.”

According to reports, the victims first felt a burning sensation in their mouths and began to throw up. Soon, they were vomiting blood. Rinsing their mouths with water also didn’t help.

The five people have been hospitalised and two of them are said to be in critical condition.

The police have registered a case against the restaurant’s owner based on the victims’ complaints.

Unraveling Cosmic Mysteries: Why Some Exoplanets Are Shrinking, Revealed by Kepler Space Telescope Data

In a groundbreaking study that delves into one of the enduring mysteries of space, scientists have utilized data from NASA’s retired Kepler Space Telescope to uncover evidence explaining why certain exoplanets are shrinking in size. Led by Caltech/IPAC scientist Jessie Christiansen, the research suggests a fascinating link between the cores of specific sub-Neptune planets and the reduction of their atmospheres.

Exoplanets, planetary bodies discovered beyond our solar system, number over 5000 so far. However, astronomers have long observed a peculiar “size gap” between rocky super-Earths and gaseous sub-Neptunes, with a scarcity of planets having diameters between 1.5 and 2 times that of Earth.

Published in The Astronomical Journal, the study proposes that atmospheric loss in less massive sub-Neptunes could be the key factor behind this size gap. Jessie Christiansen explains, “Our findings indicate there’s a significant factor preventing these planets from maintaining or achieving this size.”

The research introduces two primary mechanisms driving atmospheric loss: core-powered mass loss and photoevaporation. The evidence strongly supports core-powered mass loss, where radiation from a planet’s hot core gradually forces the atmosphere outwards.

Photoevaporation, akin to a hairdryer melting an ice cube, occurs when a star’s intense radiation strips away a planet’s atmosphere. While this process is believed to transpire within the first 100 million years of a planet’s existence, core-powered mass loss likely occurs around the 1 billion-year mark.

To substantiate their theories, the research team scrutinized data from the K2 mission, concentrating on the young star clusters Praesepe and Hyades. The findings revealed that nearly all stars in these clusters still harbor sub-Neptune planets, indicating that their atmospheres have not been eroded by photoevaporation. This observation strongly supports core-powered mass loss as the more plausible explanation for the observed size gap.

The implications of this study extend beyond solving a cosmic puzzle; they provide insights into the evolution of exoplanet atmospheres, offering potential clues about the habitability of distant worlds. As Christiansen notes, ongoing research and future studies will continue to test and refine these theories, unlocking further mysteries of the universe.

India Requests Evidence from Canada on Nijjar Killing Allegation: Investigation Not Ruled Out

In a recent development, India has formally requested Canada to provide evidence substantiating allegations of Indian agents’ involvement in the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18 in British Columbia. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has stated that India remains open to an investigation into the matter, highlighting the need for responsible sharing of information.

During a conversation with a journalist, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized that the request for evidence is grounded in the context of concerns regarding the accommodation of individuals espousing violent and extreme political opinions in Canadian politics. These opinions often advocate separatism from India through violent means.

Jaishankar shed light on the challenging diplomatic circumstances, citing instances where Indian diplomats, including the High Commissioner, faced attacks and intimidation in Canada. He underscored the importance of freedom of speech and expression, emphasizing that these freedoms come with a responsibility that should not be misused for political purposes.

Addressing the lack of evidence shared by Canada to support its allegations, Jaishankar stated, “If you have a reason to make such an allegation, please share the evidence with us. We are not ruling out an investigation and are willing to consider any information they may have, but they haven’t done so.”

The strained relations between India and Canada arose after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made allegations in September about the potential involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar’s killing. India had designated Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020. The Indian government dismissed Trudeau’s claims as “absurd” and “motivated,” leading to the temporary suspension of visa issuance to Canadian citizens and a request for Ottawa to downsize its diplomatic presence.

As the dialogue between the two nations continues, India’s stance reflects a commitment to a thorough and objective examination of the situation, with the expectation that any serious allegations should be supported by credible evidence.

Chandrayaan-3 Update: Isro’s Responsible Space Practices Shine as LVM-3 Rocket Upper Stage Safely Disposed

In a recent development, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has reported the successful completion of an uncontrolled re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere for the cryogenic upper stage of the LVM3 M4 launch vehicle. This component played a vital role in propelling the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into its designated orbit on July 14, 2023.

The unplanned descent occurred at approximately 14:42 IST on Wednesday, marking a noteworthy event within 124 days post-launch. The rocket body, an integral part of Isro’s lunar exploration initiative, adhered to the “25-year rule” established by the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee (IADC). This rule ensures the responsible disposal of space debris by requiring defunct satellite components to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere within 25 years.

Leading up to the re-entry, the upper stage underwent a meticulous process known as “passivation.” This method involves the elimination of residual propellants and potential energy sources, significantly reducing the risk of accidental explosions during the re-entry phase. Isro’s commitment to these measures aligns with the stringent space debris mitigation guidelines outlined by both the United Nations and IADC.

Isro’s successful execution of the passivation process and subsequent controlled disposal of the rocket body not only underscores its technical proficiency but also emphasizes its dedication to maintaining the long-term sustainability of outer space activities. By adhering to internationally recognized standards, Isro reinforces its role as a responsible participant in the global space community.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission, featuring a lander and rover configuration, stands as a testament to India’s advancements in safe lunar landing and exploration. The mission’s triumph, coupled with the conscientious disposal of the launch vehicle’s upper stage, represents a dual achievement for Isro. It not only showcases India’s growing expertise in space exploration but also underscores its commitment to environmental stewardship in the realm of space exploration.

Virat Kohli Surpasses Sachin Tendulkar’s 25-Year Century Record in World Cup 2023 Semi-Final

In a historic turn of events on Wednesday, November 15, Virat Kohli emerged as the new leading century-maker in ODIs, toppling Sachin Tendulkar’s 25-year reign. The 35-year-old cricket maestro achieved this milestone by notching up his 50th ODI hundred during the 2023 World Cup semi-final clash against New Zealand at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium.

This significant shift in cricket history harks back to September 26, 1998, when Tendulkar, often hailed as the Master Blaster, secured his 18th ODI century against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. His unbeaten 127 off 130 balls led India to a resounding victory by eight wickets, chasing down a target of 214 in 42.2 overs. With that century, Tendulkar overtook West Indies legend Desmond Haynes, who previously held the record with 17 ODI centuries.

Tendulkar’s record-setting innings kept him at the helm for an impressive 9181 days before Kohli stepped into the limelight on Wednesday. Kohli had previously equaled Tendulkar’s century tally during the India vs. South Africa clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Facing New Zealand in the semi-final showdown, Kohli showcased his prowess by scoring 117 runs off 113 balls, adorned with nine fours and two sixes. His century propelled India to a formidable total of 397 for four, ultimately securing a 70-run victory and sealing their spot in the World Cup final scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

In response to Kohli’s monumental achievement, Tendulkar took to Instagram to express his admiration. Reflecting on their first meeting in the Indian dressing room 15 years ago, Tendulkar shared a light-hearted memory of Kohli being pranked into touching his feet by teammates. He praised Kohli’s growth as a player and expressed joy that an Indian cricketer had broken his record.

“The first time I met you in the Indian dressing room, you were pranked by other teammates into touching my feet. I couldn’t stop laughing that day. But soon, you touched my heart with your passion and skill. I am so happy that that young boy has grown into a ‘Virat’ player,” Tendulkar wrote on Instagram.

“I couldn’t be happier that an Indian broke my record. And to do it on the biggest stage — in the World Cup Semi-Final — and at my home ground is the icing on the cake,” he added
